Description
William Dawson Waugh was a legendary figure in the special operations community. Enlisting in the US Army in 1948, Billy Waugh was in an airborne combat team for the Korean War. After the Korean War, Billy Waugh became a Green Beret in 1954 and later went to South Vietnam in 1961. During his time in Vietnam, Waugh was operating with the 5th Special Forces group where a night raid gone bad caused Waugh to be shot several times and left in between US forces and VC positions until he was rescued. Waugh retired from active military in 1972 as a Sergeant Major (E9). Billy Waugh was then approached by the CIA in 1977 to train various military forces for the CIA. He later went on to work across the Middle East performing surveillance and intelligence gathering for the CIA. At the young age of 71, Billy Waugh helped the CIA be one of the Northern Alliance Lisason team members in 2001. Billy Waugh sadly passed away in April of 2023 but this rifle is a tribute to a pioneer in the special forces community and a legend who lived up to his reputation.
The M4A1 Block I also known as the M4A1 SOPMOD was a sister to the US Military’s M4 Carbine. The SOPMOD designation stands for Special Operations Peculiar Modifications and is an accessories system designed in the early 1990’s to customize the base M4 Carbine in-the-field with low-cost off-the-shelf components. This would allow for each setup to be mission-specific and allow for proper set mounting of optics, IR/VIS lights, verticals grips, etc.
This TYPE-A M4A1 Block I is built on an accurate Carbine platform with proven mil-spec components to make it an incredibly versatile rifle. The M4A1 Block I is equipped with a 14.5″ Cold Hammer Forged barrel with a TYPE-A ASR Ready Muzzle Brake or other muzzles for an additional cost. Our M4A1 Block I is also equipped with a Knights Armament Quad & CAR 15 style furniture. The TYPE-A M4A1 Block I Rifle is driven by our TYPE-A QPQ bolt carrier group w/R.E.M Polish. Equipped with a DGI (direct gas impingement) system and our new TYPE-A PMC Straight 2-stage trigger to give it consistent reliability time after time.
NOTE: All of our rifles are Hardcoat Anodized and then Cerakoted to give you a longer lasting more durable finish. We wanted your rifle to wear to the anodized surface vs. the raw aluminum surface like some of our competitors. Just another added benefit making our rifles…TYPE-A.
