The legendary M110 SASS weapon system was originally designed as a replacement for the M24 bolt action sniper rifle. With a faster rate of fire and the addition of a quad rail, the M110 was more modular and better suited for urban fighting than the older M24 weapon system. In April 2008, the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan was the first to receive the new M110 system and quickly became impressed by the higher rate of fire compared to the M24, modularity, and overall build quality of the rifle. Knights Armament later came out with updated M110 models, but the original variant was a classic GWOT rifle. With extremely high asking prices for deployment kits, the M110 Clone is the perfect way to own something incredibly close to the iconic original variant.
The AR10 Platform started as a simple request from a Law Enforcement Department to manufacture a 308 in a short platform for densely populated areas. So we did just that. We knew we wanted to stay with a traditional AR10 large frame so we married the Armalite cut with some key features of the DPMS SR-25. This is one of the first platforms where weight wasn’t our first consideration. We wanted a stout and accurate system that had an aggressive stance.
This TYPE-A M110 Clone is built on our all-new Ambidextrous Billet AR10 Armalite platform with upgraded mil-spec components to make it an incredibly versatile firearm. The 18″ M110 Clone is equipped with a 18″ 416R Stainless Steel Lightweight Contour barrel, and our new Mk14C handguard. It’s also equipped with a Griffin’s Dual-Lock PSR (OTB) Muzzle and fully furnished with an Milspec A2 Fix Stock and A2 Pistol Grip. The TYPE-A 20″ M110 Clone is driven by our TYPE-A Titanium Nitride coated bolt carrier group w/R.E.M. Polish. It’s also equipped with our improved TYPE-A PMC Straight 2-stage trigger to give it consistent reliability time after time.
NOTE: All of our pistols are Hardcoat Anodized and then Cerakoted to give you a longer lasting more durable finish. We wanted your rifle to wear to the anodized finish vs. the raw aluminum surface. Just another added benefit making your rifle….TYPE-A.

The rifle is reasonably accurate especially for a an AR platform, and bears a fair resemblance to a real m110 from knights. Fit and finish is decent when compared to the other premium options in the large frame dmr category. If you’re looking into ordering a rifle from BG Defense I wouldn’t discourage you in the slightest; but would definitely recommend you make sure to get on the same page with them on what you’re expecting as far as what they advertise for this rifle and what parts aren’t actually cerakoted.
